Constructed in the Queen Anne style in 1888, the Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House has undergone extensive renovations in the last century but retains its original Victorian elegance and feel. Visitors can take guided tours of the house on weekends, or tour the building alone and see the home's many authentic furnishings and special exhibits on various aspects of life in the 1800s and early 1900s. Overlooking the town from atop Skinner Butte, the house and its lovely surrounding grounds are located just south across the water from the Eugene Country Club.
